Chateau Prieure Lichine was the home of Alexis Lichine, famous wine merchant, wine writer and promoter of French wines who sadly died in 1989. He purchased the estate in 1951 and re-named it Prieure Lichine in 1953. He began a programme of great improvements which included tripling the vineyard area. His son sold the estate in 1999 to the Ballande family who have since put a lot of investment and commitment in to the estate. The density of plantation is 8,000 vines per hectare with plantings of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot and 10% Petit Verdot. Two wines are produced: Chateau Prieure Lichine 240,000 bottles and Confidence de Prieure Lichine 120,000 bottles.
