Chateau Lynch Bages once belonged to the well known Lynch family and was then bought by Jean-Charles Cazes in the 1930s. In 1974 it was then past to his grandson, Jean-Michel Cazes who spent several years in the United States developing a view of international importance of both wine and business. A large amount of modernisation and rebuilding has taken place at Lynch Bages, but the making of wine still remains traditional. The density of plantation is 9,000 vines per hectare with plantings of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Two wines are produced: Chateau Lynch-Bages 420,000 bottles and Chateau Haut Bages Averous 120,000 bottles.
