En Primeur 2020 | Campaign comes to a close.

En Primeur 2020 came to an official close on Monday, and there is alot of talking points surrounding how the campaign went this year.

Wine critic Neal Matin got the go ahead to visit Bordeaux and taste wines that was not shipped to him, which resulted in him re-scoring both Margaux and Trotanoy to scores of 98-100, up from 97-99.

2020 prices had a rather high increase compared to the 19 vintage, with release prices reaching upwards of 90% increase in comparison. Chateau Petit-Village increased a massive 88.8% compared to 2019, with popular First Growths Haut-Brion and Mouton Rothschild increasing 44.8%.

"This is a dependable, classic Bordeaux vintage, the wines are consistent and rewarding, yet the release prices are out of step with 2018 & 2019, with inconsistent pricing generally 20% above the similarly rated 2019's. Time will tell in the drinking, and we'll definitely be closely re-assessing the 2019's later this year in comparison. Our current analysis, is that this is a 'get it while you can' vintage, for reliable future drinking." - Corkr Fine Wines.

Corkr Fine Wines 'Wine of 2020' goes to Cos d'Etournel. It will be in a beautiful black and gold engraved bottle that celebrates the 20th anniversary of the Cos D’Etournel acquisition by Michael Reybier, and we think it will be a collectors item for the future.
