During the Middle Ages, the vineyards of Beau Sejour Becot were cultivated by monks and in the 17th century it was acquired by the Geres family. In 1787 General Jacques de Carle named the property Beausejour. When the whole of the estate came to Pierre-Paulin Ducarpe it was divided between his two children in 1869 and due to the daughter marrying Duffau Lagarosse it became known as Chateau Beausejour-Duffau Lagarosse and the son inherited the half which in 1924 was sold to Dr Fagouet, altering the name to Chateau Beausejour-Dr-Fagouet. The estate finally got its current name after it was acquired by Michel Becot in 1969. He then retired in 1985 and to date, the estate is run by his two sons, Gerard and Dominique. The vineyard extends to 16.5 hectares with grape varieties being 70% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Grand Vin and second wine have an annual production of 5,000 cases.
