Between the years 1785 and 1997 Chateau d'Yquem was run by one family. Comte Alexandre de Lur Saluces is the latest member of the family to have the responsibility for managing this huge estate. Yquem overlooks the vineyards of a great deal of the premiers crus classes and it can be said that Yquem is Bordeaux’s single greatest wine. The density of plantation is 6,500 vines per hectare with plantings of 80% Semillon and 20% Sauvignon. One wine is produced: Chateau d’Yquem 110,000 bottle.
