For centuries, Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere has been recognised as one of the best growths in Saint-Emilion. In 1971, Count von Neipperg whose family has eight centuries of wine growing tradition, bought the estate. In 1985, his son Stephan, took charge of running the estate. The area under vine is 19.5 hectares with wine varieties including 55% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and the density plantation is 5,500 vines per hectare. The annual production of the Grand Vin is 7,500 cases. A second wine is also produced.
