Since the late 1980s, this has been one of the most dependable Saint Estephe cru classe and has regularly been superior to Cos d'Estournel which is its closest competitor. A revised classification could even rank it amongst the Medoc first growths. It has a density of plantation of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Two wines are produced: Chateau Montrose and La Dame de Montrose.
