During the 1950s and 1960s the Chateau struggled, but improvements were made and the Chateau has produced exceptional wines, notably from 1986 onwards. This estate is very often referred to as a 'super second'. It has a density plantation of 9,000 vines per hectare with plantings of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. Two wines are produced: Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron and Les Tourelles de Longueville.
