Margaux

2018 is unprecedented. Exceptionally challenging weather conditions throughout the winter, spring and early summer; and a level of power and concentration in the resulting grapes never before seen.

At Chateau Palmer, they lost 2/3 of the crop to mildew, with yields at just 11 hectolitres per hectare, which equates to just one bunch per vine! They produced no second wine. This level of crop loss is large, but not unusual in Margaux in this vintage.

All this aside, 2018 will go down as one of the greatest vintages in this appellation in recent years, even taking into consideration the extraordinary quality of 2015 and 2016.
