In 1975 Chateau Pontet Canet was acquired by Guy Tesseron, a cognac merchant. Today the estate is run by Alfred Tesseron and his grand daughter Justine. Situated in Pauillac, the vineyards border Chateau Mouton Rothschild and have recently been certified as biodynamic. The density of plantation is 8,500 per hectare with plantings of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. Two wines are produced: Pontet Canet 250,000 bottles and Les Hauts de Pontet 230,000 bottles.
