The present chateau of Chateau Troplong Mondot was built in the mid-1700s and in 1850 Robert Troplong came into 'view' and increased the vineyard surface to its present size of 30 hectares. His nephew Edouard inherited the chateau and before selling it he added the family name. At the start of the 20th century Alexandre Valette acquired the chalet and the current owner is Christine Valette. The grapes grown are Merlot 80%, Cabernet Franc 10% and Cabernet Sauvignon 10% with the density of plantation being 5,600-6,600 vines per hectare. Two wines are produced: Chateau Troplong Mondot 90,000 bottles and the second wine Mondot 30,000 bottles.
